Yadkinville, NC favorite knife lost – now found

  • from Winston-Salem (North Carolina, United States)

Received message from Tim a resident of Yadkin county whom described while moving hay bales on his farm he lost his pocket knife that has been with him for many years prior to retirement from the Highway Patrol.  It held sentimental value to him. Even though he was unsure of where it actually dropped I told him I would do my best to locate it.

Having contacted me on Sunday I was unfortunately not able to immediately assist but promised I would load my equipment and would drop by on way home from my office on Monday.

Monday arrived and I had another request for assistance a few miles from the farm so plan was to assist both before dark fell.  Upon successful recovery of the first item (diamond necklace) I quickly relocated to Tim’s farm finding him mowing.  He asked if I wanted to delay because darkness was approaching and I replied “lets find it”.   Tim described the events and location he believed he dropped the knife.

We walked and searched approximately 30 minutes and as sun was setting I explained that I often search in late afternoons and I have had luck in parks finding things around sunset.  Something about the dark gives me favor.   Sure enough as we were walking towards our vehicles and swinging my detector in last ditch efforts my detector sounds off.  Although under moonlight I could see the outline of a knife.  I asked Tim,  “remember what I said earlier about finding stuffs in the dark?   There it is!”  He didn’t believe me until I picked it up and placed into his hand. 🙂

Thank you Tim for your years of dedicated service to the citizens of North Carolina.  I cannot wait to return and detect your farm and see what all those mysterious signals are that we stumbled across.

Diamond necklace Recovery – Mocksville, NC

  • from Winston-Salem (North Carolina, United States)

Around noon I received a text that requestor had dropped her necklace in the yard. She and fiancé had searched for it for some time with negative results. Allison explained the location and asked if it was too far for me. I let her know I would be glad to assist but was in Wilkes county at the moment (30 minutes away) but could drop by the Davie county address around 5:30. She said that would be great but no one would be able to be there at that time due to another commitment. I let her know I would be glad to try in their absence if comfortable if she could place a chair or something in the yard so I would know the general area it was lost. She said yes so we had a plan.

I arrived and immediately began searching the marked area. Was receiving lots of valid signals and realized with the home being new that lots of metallic items were in the search area. I continued my search. After an hour I received a text asking if any luck yet. I advised had searched the immediate area and not found yet but was actively searching. Expanding search area and 30 additional minutes it was found.

If you or anyone needs assistance in recovering your valuable please do not hesitate to give a Ring Finder a ring.  Would be our pleasure to assist you.

Lost wedding ring search in Lexington, NC

I received a call from Barry whom explained he had a long shot assignment. Few years prior, he and wife had traveled and to be safe she hid her ring in the home for safe keeping. Following return from their travels wife realized that her ring could not be found. They searched the home for a long time and are of the belief that it could have been vacuumed. Their home has a central vacuum system and Barry said he always empties the canister in a garden area and asked if I would assist in metal detecting the garden area. I advised I would be glad to assist upon my return from being out of town.

Upon my return I contacted Barry and coordinated a time to meet with him Sunday afternoon ahead of approaching bad weather. Upon arrival Barry walked me to the garden area (approximately size of a football field) and pointed out the area that he dumps the canister. I grid searched finding only old ammunition casings and square nails 3 to 5 inches below the surface. After searching and sunset approaching we jointly agreed that although not finding the missing ring we had successfully eliminated the garden as a the rings location.

In my previous life I was an electrician and have installed many central vacuum systems and asked Barry “if” the piping between the connection points to the canister rose or dropped to the canister. He advised they were lower but the run of piping did rise at one point. I suggested that he make what electricians refer to as a rat (Conduit Piston) and let it travel from the connection point to the cannister by turning on the vacuum to pull it. The ring could be trapped inside the pipe and the rat may push the ring to the cannister. I also explained it worked like the pneumatic tubes at many drive up teller windows at banks. Barry was very thankful for the suggestion and advised he would let me know of the results.

Few weeks later I read a post of another ring finder having found a ring lost in a similar manner. This prompted me to contact Barry and share the article [ Link to Article ].

Unfortunately the ring has not been recovered as of this writing. I would like to encourage anyone losing jewelry to reach out to a professional as quickly as possible for assistance but mainly to emphasize we Ring Finders are always glad to assist in any way we can.

Again, if this has happened to you, whether it’s a ring, Watch, necklace, on the beach, in the water or in your backyard give us a call.

Missing wedding band found in Yadkinville, NC

  • from Winston-Salem (North Carolina, United States)

Sunday morning assignment:

10:22am I received the following message…
“I located your information through Ring Finders and would like your help in locating my husband’s titanium wedding band.  It slipped off of his finger into our yard yesterday and we have been looking to no avail.  We live In Yadkinville and hope that you are able to help us find his ring.”

11:32am I spoke with Sue whom was able to provide detailed information that her husband had worked in the yard on Saturday, ending by washing his hands beside their home.  He shook his hands to dry them and immediately realized his wedding band slipped off.  Sue said they searched and raked the immediate area until after dark with negative results.  Recently moving to North Carolina she advised they had a trip planned to visit the Baltimore Estate and that her husband had said he feels naked as he has not been without his wedding band since they married.  In hopes to find a solution she searched the internet for “how to find ring” and discovered The Ring Finders website and contacted me being her closest resource.  I let her know I was in the next county and would be glad to assist them and would arrive after lunch.

2:00pm I texted Sue and let her know I was en-route and would arrive in 15 minutes.

2:18pm arrived and met with Sue and husband whom escorted me to the location of the loss. They walked through the series of events including how he was standing when shaking his hands and the direction of the thud sound.  I retrieved my equipment and began a scan of the area.  The area did have many iron signals however I located the ring within a few minutes.  Recovered only 4-5 feet from where he was standing and immediately in the area they searched previously.

The smiles on both of their faces cannot be described other than to say they mirrored those of my grandchildren at Christmas.   Thank you Sue for allowing me the opportunity to assist you and your husband.
