Last night, I got that call every metal detectorist loves… but every newly engaged couple dreads. Osman told me his wife’s beautiful gold & diamond engagement ring — yeah, the real deal — slipped right off her finger thanks to a sneaky wave at Cedar Beach, Gilgo NY. The ring was a little loose… the ocean? Definitely not. šŸŒŠšŸ’Ø

They were completely panicked. His words? ā€œWe couldn’t even think straight anymore.ā€

So today, your boy rolled out to Cedar Beach. I timed it just right to hit low tide around 3PM. Got there at 1:45… said a quiet little prayer on the way… and got to work.

Two hours. Two hours of fighting waves, getting tossed around like I was in a washing machine, sand in places sand shouldn’t be… I was about ready to throw in the towel (literally). But then I remembered — just because it was lost in the water, doesn’t mean it stayed in the water.

So I moved up the beach, closer to the ā€˜swash zone’… and then finally… BEEP! Music to my ears. Dug down about 4 inches, sifted through the sand… and there it was — that beautiful gold diamond ring, safe and sound, ready to go home.

Osman’s giving it back to his fiancĆ©e tonight… and he thinks this moment might even top the day he proposed. After all… it was ā€œlost foreverā€ā€¦ but now it’s back.

Massive thanks to the Big Guy upstairs for letting me be the one to find it. šŸ™

I have to admit, I was a little bummed when I got the call to turn around because they had found their ring. This looked like it was going to be an epicly fun search! But hey, I’m thrilled for this newly engaged couple—nothing like a happy ending (even if it means I didn’t get to dive into a sea of plastic balls). I ended up just providing guidance and mental support…

From the pictures, you can see the ball pit in all its chaotic glory, including the bottom. It seems like there wasn’t much metal to interfere, so this might have been an easy find. Might have been. I guess I’ll never know… unless fate (or another slippery ring) leads me to another ball pit adventure.

The baby picture is just for fun! lol

On the bright side, Josh told me to keep my come-out fee, so at least my disappointment was softened by a little silver lining.

Wishing this couple a lifetime of happiness—and hopefully, no more lost jewelry!

Snowball Fight, Expensive Ring Lost… and Found!

If you lost jewelry or valuables – call me right away! 646-235-8797

Christmas snowball fights are all fun and games—until someone loses a Cartier PanthĆØre ring in the backyard! That’s exactly what happened to Chloe while she was tossing snowballs with (and at!) her cousin on Christmas Day.

Chloe and her dad, Jack, spent three days braving the cold, searching high and low in the snow for her stunning 18K yellow gold ring, but it was nowhere to be found. That’s when Jack decided to call in some reinforcements—me!

On December 27, I arrived, ready to turn their snowy backyard into a treasure map. With a little patience and the help of my trusty metal detector, we struck gold (literally) in just 30 minutes!

The moment we found it, the joy and relief on their faces said it all. Chloe got her beautiful Cartier PanthĆØre ring back, and the snowball fight story gained a happy ending everyone will remember for years to come.

Moral of the story? Snowball fights are better without losing jewelry, but if you do, The Ring Finders are here to help!

Clucking Success: Finding a Wedding Band in a Brooklyn Chicken Coop!

Sometimes, metal detecting takes you to unexpected places—like a chicken coop in the heart of Brooklyn! When I first got a text about a lost gold wedding band in a backyard chicken coop, I thought someone was playing a prank. But as it turns out, this was no joke. The gentleman had been tending to his chickens when his ring slipped off, disappearing into the dirt, hay and feathers.

Armed with my trusty detector and a lot of determination, I set out to find that ring.

It was discouraging, all the metal in the chicken coop walls and various sections was making my equipment less than optimal..

Navigating around curious chickens, it was definitely one of the more unusual searches I’ve been on! After carefully scanning the coop, first, I found a wrench that probably hasn’t seen sunlight for 50 years, then at the entrance of the chicken coop, technically outside of the chicken, I used my pin pointer and found the ring!

I heard that unmistakable tone—and there it was, buried in the ground, shining gold.

The look of relief on the gentleman’s face and the feeling of shaking his hand while looking in his eyes, genuinely feeling happy for him, was priceless. Besides chickens, he keeps bees! šŸ. Along with my come-out fee and reward he gave me eggs and honey! Major win for both of us!

It’s not every day you find yourself metal detecting for gold in a chicken coop, but it’s moments like these that make what I do so rewarding. Whether in sand, snow, or—apparently—chicken coops, a lost treasure can always be found!

The Thrill of the Hunt: Why I Love Returning Lost Valuables

If you lost jewelry or valuables – call me right away! 646-235-8797

Hi everyone, I’m Reuben Marcus, and I’m excited to a member of The Ring Finders! Ever since I picked up my first metal detector as a teen, I’ve been fascinated by the idea that something lost long ago could still be found, buried and forgotten, waiting to be reunited with its owner. Now, as I close in on 60, that passion has only grown stronger.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about finding an item that someone thought was gone forever—whether it’s a wedding ring slipped off in the sand, a family heirloom lost in the snow, or a treasured piece of jewelry that holds memories beyond its material value. When I see the relief and joy on someone’s face after recovering a lost treasure, I feel like I’ve given them back a part of their story, something that connects them to their past.

I’m retired now after 40 years in IT, and this new chapter of my life has allowed me to pursue my hobby of metal detecting full-time. I’ve always believed that what’s lost can be found, and I’m here to prove that—one search at a time.

If you’ve lost something precious, don’t give up hope. Reach out, and let’s see if we can bring that treasure back where it belongs.
