Buried Silver Found!

While out detecting one day I received a call from a man who told me that he had buried some silver bars and coins in the 1980s and was now unable to find them. Of course I would help! After a nice lunch prepared by his wife, the search was on. The plastic bucket containing the cache was not to be found under the bunkhouse where he thought he buried it. After over an hour of digging, we decided to try another side of the building. Instantly a solid, repeatable signal was detected and the digging began. In no time, a plastic bag was discovered and silver coins spilled out. After removing the bag, a plastic bucket was revealed, dragged out, and opened. The lost treasure had been found! He already sold the treasure and put it into his retirement account. Truly a once in a lifetime experience ☺️

Ring Found on Madeline Island

Madeline Island sits in the clear waters of Lake Superior near Bayfield, Wisconsin. Big Bay State Park is a perfect place for a relaxing camping trip. The sandy beach seems to go on for miles and is a favorite spot for tourists to enjoy the lake.

It was there that a woman, her partner, and two year old planned to hang out and make family memories. She secured her solitaire diamond ring in a zippered pocket for safe keeping. The diamond in the ring had been passed down through the woman’s family and was a treasured heirloom.

Unbeknownst to her, the pocket had a hole in it and the day at the beach turned into a desperate search for the ring. She was heartbroken. Once back home in Milwaukee, she discovered the ringfinders site and contacted me. She provided excellent details about where the ring was lost.

My detecting partner and I drove to Bayfield, took the ferry to the island, and arrived at the park office with our permit application to gain permission to look for the ring. Detecting on Wisconsin state owned properties is not allowed without the approved permit. The staff at the park wished us luck and we were finally off to the beach.

Once on the shoreline my partner found the ring within a few minutes. The owner of the ring shed tears of joy!

Ring Found in Ashland, WI

Saturday was a perfect day for two good friends to float on the lake enjoying the sunshine and each other’s company. As she was sliding off of her floating tube near the dock, Sharon could feel her precious, one-of-a-kind wedding ring set slip off of her finger into the water. She was devastated. Luckily, her friend spotted the larger ring on the lake bottom and quickly snapped it up.

Unfortunately, the smaller diamond encrusted band was no where to be found. Sharon desperately Googled “How to find a lost ring in the water” and an article that mentioned “theringfinders” came up. Miraculously, she thought, there was actually a ringfinder in her area!

Since I was away at a family event, Sharon was able to talk to my detecting partner, Jane. Jane went to the site but was unable to locate the ring in the waves. The next day, Jane and I returned. It took us 45 minutes using a grid search of the area to recover the ring. Sharon was ecstatic!

Ring Found in Two Harbors

My phone rang on a very hot Sunday morning. A new husband, Nick, had lost has wedding ring while taking a celebratory swim in Lake Superior after the marriage ceremony. I made the two and a half hour trip to Two Harbors, Minnesota in hopes of finding it for him.  I began a grid search at the rocky shoreline working my way into deeper water when Nick arrived to explain the area he had been in the night before. Fearing that the ring was too deep for me, I started double checking the shallow water before calling in a diver. Widening my search area payed off with an excellent signal. I called my search partner over to pinpoint the target. Before she could locate it, Nick gave out a gleeful shout “I see it”! He, his new wife, and his parents were ecstatic☺️. The honeymoon could finally begin!
