I received a call to help find a lost gold coin on a gold chain at Wreck Beach in Vancouver. I was excited at the thought of being able to help find such an important item. After hearing the story about where this young man had lost the coin & gold chain my excitement dwindled.

He told me he went for a very long swim straight out from where he was sitting on the beach. The swim he estimated was approximately 1 km, over a half a mile. This meant my chances were very, very low for recovery. I told him what I could do is search at low tide to make sure he didn’t lose it closer to shore, maybe we could get lucky but in my mind this was just a closure search to make sure it wasn’t where anyone else could find it.

We both knew this was a long shot, I could only search 5% of the area as 95% would have been far from shore in the deep ocean. But I do believe in miracles and one happened that day after 2 1/2 hours of laying down a good grid-search on low tide in the wet sand I found his beautiful gold coin and gold chain.

I’ve been doing this a very long time and I’ve recovered over 550 items and I have to say I love these types of surprises where you don’t expect it and it shows up.

Needless to say, we were both high-fiving and extremely excited about the recovery!

I received a text message asking if I was the guy who finds lost rings so I called and introduced myself and found out that the young man lost his platinum wedding band at a volleyball court right beside his office building.

By the sounds of it this should be a fast find so I drove out and met him and he showed me the area and it was the first target and maybe 40 second search. He said he was very relieved, he also told me his wife is out of town and he was too embarrassed to even tell her that he had lost it.

People lose things it happens! A lot of people try to buy or rent a Metal Detector and search for it themselves. I just wonder how many people don’t find it and give up. This young couple spent close to six hours searching with no luck, someone told them to call TheRingFinders and they did. The only thing was I was 1 1/2 hours away leaving for a 5 hour drive to Kelowna BC.

I stopped and turned around and drove back to help find her ring, as I could feel her pain. When I arrived there were 2 people metal detecting the beach but fortunately they were not in the area the ring was lost. The young couple showed me quite a large area where the ring could be, after asking a lot a of questions I knew this could be  a tough search, but not impossible.  She did have videos of the water and the rocks and sand, which was very helpful and put me in an area where it only took me maybe a minute to find her Smile… Yes sometimes you get lucky!!

I received a phone call from young man who was desperate to find his cell phone that he had thrown into tall grass in a park. He took the day off of work to look for, but could not find it after three hours.

He went online and found TheRingFinders call for help when I arrived. We discussed the search a bit more. He told me he got mad at his girlfriend and tossed the phone into the bushes and tall grass. This could’ve been a very tough search. Fortunately, it only took five minutes and he was out of the doghouse, he would not have to sleep on the couch tonight, lol.

I received a text message just before midnight in regards to a lost gold cross at Jericho Beach. I didn’t see this till early morning and reached out to Nick who called me back. He told me his gold chain was still on his neck but his cross was missing. It turned out to be a small and thin gold cross and the area Nick put me in was pretty big and I knew this was gonna be a tough search.

Well I was right I started out with the Deus 2 and after 3 1/2 hours and no luck I took a brake, had dinner, and went back to work with the Garrett AT Gold with the snipper coil and after 2 hours I found it !

It was a hard search with lots of junk targets but low and slow I found his beautiful gold cross that was a gift from his grandmother.

This search wasn’t called for it was just by chance that I walked into the mall at Metrotown in Burnaby and spotted a change purse on the floor. I saw this about 30 feet away people walking by it almost stepping on it I picked it up, looked inside and there was over $300 in cash. I didn’t find any driver’s ID, but fortunately there was a piece of paper folded up with the ladies contact info and phone number.

She looked to be a senior citizen, and I could only imagine how much that must’ve hurt losing that change purse with all that money in it, I phoned her, and as you could imagine she was very excited to get the call.

She had already left the mall and was home but was on her way back to meet me with her son, they were there within 15 minutes and her son gave me a $50 gift card for Starbucks… Amazing! she was such a nice lady and very very grateful that she got her money back.

Sometimes we just get lucky to be at the right place at the right time, I’ve always said I love my job and I do!!  I just love helping people.

Early this morning, I received a text message in regards to helping someone find their lost engagement ring in Vancouver, I replied right away and heard the story about where this young lady believed she had lost her ring. It sounded like it was very likely I was going to recover it, but I’ve been fooled before in thinking the search could be easy and it turns out to be one of the hardest ones. I wouldn’t know until I arrived at the location where the ring was lost.

After arriving and speaking to the young lady and her husband, it sounded likely that I’d find it but it didn’t quite make sense why it would be on the right side when she was coming down the stairs and the ring was on her left hand, but after discussing it a bit more and the way her body position was, I started my search and was able to find it within minutes. Needless to say, the young lady and her husband were very happy and relieved to see that Ring! After speaking to him a bit more I found out that they had bought a metal detector off Amazon and searched for 45 minutes with no luck. I often wonder how many people buy or rent a Detector and give up after not finding it, thinking it’s not there. I’m sure this happens more than I know. The thing about myself and other members on this directory is, we have many many years of Metal Detecting experience, which makes a huge difference in the chance of recovery.

Last night after getting back from a beach hunt just after midnight I received a call from a young man who told me his wife had lost a gold and diamond Cartier earring. He wanted to see if I was interested in going out that evening after (Midnight) to look for it on Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver.

After talking about the search, I decided to hit it early in the morning, I knew it was gonna be cold and snowy and where he described she lost it, there was no hurry to get there before the snow ploughs or anybody else finding it.

When I arrived and met the young man,  he put me in a great area and I started to do my grid search. The conditions were tough as it froze and the snow was pretty hard packed. After close to an hour, I received a great signal and I chipped away at the snow and ice and found her beautiful diamond earring. As a matter of fact all I saw was the gold post of the earring in the s, after surprising, the young man, we decided to take it to the washroom and use a hot water to melt away the ice and snow. The earring was in perfect condition and back to its owner.
